Chinese Take out carton ideas...

I had to make party favours for my niece's 1st birthday party this year... So I decided to use a chinese take out carton boxes as the base and spruce it up...

After many many hours of effort, I finally have 20 boxes.

Went with a yellow and orange theme to match the birthday cake...
Top it off with a personalised tag...
All these goodies in one little box..
There is so many options of how you can spruce a plain white take out carton...  You could add stripes or just about anything else the mind can think of...
It opens exactly like a take out carton...
Lid is slightly different just to let it have a neater look.

Weave anyone?

Was cutting coloured strips of paper for a different project but an idea popped into my mind...

Why not weave a box? and this was what I came up with... Didn't want to overdo it so I made a plain top...
Surprisingly sturdy although it's just strips of paper.. :)

Stripe-y Box

Again my sister had some baby goodies which needs wrapping... another new-born announcement... so another box it is... gotta mix it up a bit right? So I tinkled with the idea of a box which has a lift-up lid and this was what I came up with.. =)

How it opens?
Take a look inside... It's also lined with the same striped inside....
Fits 5 little onesies nicely... SO cute..... :D
Now I am wishing I didn't have to give it away.... Can I have it back please??!!

Sticks in a box....

Bought a pair of learning chopsticks for my colleague's daughter.. forgot to snap a photo before I popped it into the box but it is pretty cute..it has a silicone man with chopsticks as legs...so I just made a simple box with bright colours since it's for a 4 year old... and for detailing I just wrapped a thin ribbon across the box and ended them with flower stickers...

Christmas card 2010 edition

Every year as usual, I will make a batch of mini christmas greeting cards along with a small gift for my colleagues... since I changed jobs this year my new team is pretty small so I could do what I did...

I individually cut out sillouettes of a christmas tree and stacked them on a green card and then onto a cream colours card as the base... I felt it looked simple and a tad rustic which I liked... :)

For the gift, I baked chocolate fudge brownies and wrapped them in coloured cello paper and tied them up with a ribbon...
Simple and sweet... hope everyone liked it... :D

Cake box...

New project... made some tiramisu over the weekend and needed something to give them away in... so obviously I needed a box right? So how would I construct a box to fit 2 cups of tiramisu...? This is what I came up with...

As it is opened up....
Partial folded view...
Fully folded up... not too bad considering it was my first attempt...
Top view... Side view...

Then I thought it looked kinda plain... so I needed to jazz it up a bit.. found a piece of lime green paper and decided to put some stripe details at the bottom of the box...
Turned out quite well I think... :)

Baby's Full Moon Gift

My sis's friend just had a baby boy and for his full moon my sis got these really cute onesies... :) So she asked me to make a box for the gift...

I kept having this idea of balloons that ran through my mind so I decided to go ahead with the idea.. I didnt want a standard square box and started to explore a hexagon shaped one..

Am quite pleased with the results actually...

I made the bottom box with turquoise blue.. Two little onesies in a little box... :D

I then made the lid white so that the balloons would pop.... I had cut out little ballons of various colours and attached a string to each to make them look realistic... Then tied them all up with another bow...

I also wanted to make the balloons more three dimensional so I used some pop dots to get more texture and depth....

Then my sis asked whether I was planning to tie a ribbon around the whole box to hold them together.. that wasnt exactly the plan since that was come in they way of my balloon designs but my sis didnt want ppl simply lifting the lid and seeing the contents so I had a bit of thinking...

I decided to attach ribbons to the lid which would then go around the box from the bottom to hold it together and the ribbon would tie at the side of the box... I must say I quite like the outcome of this idea since it gave the box a twist.. Made it not so conventional...
And then my sis asked me.. "Is there a card? " Jeez... for a free job she sure is asking for a lot... Oh well, I had some spare balloons left so I made her a simple card...
All in all this was a fun project.. :) I had a chance to try out something new and made something cute...
