All decked up....

Had enough time this year to make one special project.... A matching box and card set...
Took many hours of sweat and toil to successfully pull this one off... but I think the results were pretty darn good... :) I deserve some cookies and milk for this...

The box...

It is constructed similarly to the hard box in a previous post but this one had a cut-out element of a christmas tree to enhance its plain appearance....

As for the card.... This is definitely a multi element card .....

The front has an embossed stylised snowflake design with hand written greetings....
I used opaque white emboss to bring out the details of the stamped design....
Inside was a pop-up christmas tree which was really a pain to construct.... It took make tedious hours of cutting, assembly and attachments to get it to look like that... there is also a cut-out detailing on the based for the added dimension....

How it works...
In full view...
Many sleepless nites went into this.... Good? What's your thots?

A simple christmas package....

My favourite season is here again....

Unfortunately this year I didnt have much time to do a lot of stuff...

But I did manage a few things... one of it is this christmas package which my sis requested me to make for a gift to her fren.... was in a rush so did this in 15 mins or so.... a normal pocket package made different with a huge christmas tree cutout which I recycled form a different project...

Came out pretty decent for a rush job I must say... but mum didnt quite fancy it.... :(

A White and Green Affair....

Birthday season is here... Somehow or rather loads of people are celebrating their birthdays between October and December.... My fren's gf is also one of them.... Was initially asked to just demonstrate a few ribbon tying methods so that he can wrap all the pressies up but then since our schedules kept clashing I self volunteered to make him a couple of boxes after being appalled by the selection of boxes in which he planned to purchase....yucks....

The decided theme was white boxes with green ribbons so I went along and made these 2 boxes... both were my virgin attempt... :) But I must say they came out looking quite good... a couple of not so well finished corners which can be improved with practice but all in all a good outcome....

First up is a pyramidal box which is held together with 2 ribbons... the pyramid will unfold itself once the ribbon is loosen... so there is absolutely no glue or tape or anything else holding the box up... quite a nifty design aside from the fact that it can only contain a small gift....

Next up is a hard box .... Usually I just make rigid boxes with thick card-like paper however special request was for it to be a hard board box... something I have never done but have an inkling of how to do... so I got home last nite and plonked myself in front of my work table and started construction... lo behold!! It was a nice success... except for some not so neat corners as I mentioned... Request was also for the ribbon to not required re-tying so I had to have it only attached to the cover... to snaz it up a bit I added some pale pink paper flower to accentuate the green ribbon... outcome turned out to be kinda wedding favour-ish but very sweet looking... am quite pleased... the diagonal ribbon also made it look less standard.... :)

Well I hope the gf likes the boxes and keeps them.... I always preferred to place my presents into a box (unless they come is a box itself) so that the wrapping doesnt go to waste... the boxes and ribbons can be reused....

Paper Wraping

This is just a simple wrapping of a box... What I am trying to show is how with just a plain paper and ribbon you can still create something unique...

I decided to add some folding details on the wrapper to give it my own personal touch.... The folding details run all along all sides of the box as you can see from the side profile picture...
The ribbon was tied into a butterfly to snaz it up a bit instead of a normal bow...

Cylinders are so not easy....

Made this quite some time back... It is definitely not easy to make a cylindrical box especially when you are using corrugated paper... It took a lot of repetitive measuring to make sure it would fit right and look good plus it a lot of super glue to hold it all together...

It was a nice combination of pink and blue with silver ribbons... a nice combination for a naked forever friends sitting in it...

I think it turned out quite well...

Origami

Take a break from wrapping for a bit and lets see some foldings...

Sometimes for smaller items... an origami box would do perfectly...

I made this hexagon box with 4 colours... it's basically 3 colours making out the top and bottom side and a solid black all around to offset the colours... came out quite well I must say.... for my first time....

This on the other hand is a simple triangle box which I made a couple of years ago as christmas tokens to all my colleagues... Fill with chocolate bells and a small bear card.... simple and sweet...

One of my colleagues actually wanted to learn to make for his relative's wedding token... instead of the standard bunga telur for weddings... but after he heard that it actually takes 6 pieces of paper to make a box he decided it was too much effort... haha!! Well you get what you give... :) I think it is well worth the effort since two years on and this box is still on every colleague's table being used to store other stuff...

Baby's birthday....

My sis got invited for a baby's birthday celebration... So I was asked to make a box...

Since it was a baby boy I decided to go with cream/brown... didnt want the cliche blue for boy theme... just a simple cream box with ribbon details....

The box is two-tone (cream/white), made of thick construction paper...

...and the ribbon is a combination of grossgrain ribbon with detailing and satin ribbon with teddy bear motiff.

Bumbling Beezzz.....

This was created for my sister for her birthday.... She insisted she wanted a handmade box and card so here it is....

Fully hand crafted down to the little bees and its semi 3-dimensional wings... they are not stuck to the box so they can flutter... 3 bees signifying us three sisters... cutest one is me!! :D

I simply love the yellow and black combination.. the contrast is really nice....

The box...

The card....

Trademark...

I have been procrastinating on this site for quite some time now... keep saying I will only start once I found the time to take a nice banner picture but then the time has eluded me again and again so I decided I shall just start posting first and refurbish the looks of this page bit by bit....

A little bit about me... If you have seen me in person you might not think I am into such stuff but I am... haha! I just love papers and ribbons... There is not one country that I travel to that I do not search and buy paper or ribbons from... I always manage to find something crafty to purchase and bring home to add to my collections... I love to wrap and create pretty little things and give them away... It somehow gives a balance to my otherwise hectic and serious life... :)

I love anything to do with crafts from quilling to stamping to pop-ups and any other paper or ribbon crafts... I am constantly on the lookout for new things... the sky's the limit... I want to learn it all!!! :D

So I am starting a blog to document this hobby of mine... I hope everyone who stumbles across this blog would smile when they see my little creations... They are quite simple but it comes from the heart... I try not to purchase anything built but rather do them from scratch... Even the boxes I make myself...

I shall end this first posting with my signature trademark which appears on every little creations of mine....

Why a piggy behind? To be frank, coz this is one of the skills lacking in me... which is the ability to draw as you can judge by the looks of it... haha!! So hence the back is easier than the front... :D
